Global Moringa Meet 2015 Showcases Latest Advancement in Moringa...

Advanced Biofuel Center hosts brainstorming sessions on Genetics, Agronomics and Horticulture Advancement in Moringa Farming. The overall goal of this meeting is to bring together Moringa fraternity to share new knowledge and information on Moringa, the multi-purpose tree, and to promote the sustainability of its production, processing, utilization, marketing and trade as well as consumption for health and vitality, industry profitability and competitiveness in the context of globalization.

The Advanced Biofuel Center (ABC) is delighted to announce the 3rd Global Moringa Meet- 2015-the 2-Day Moringa State of Art International Workshop to be held on 21- 22 November 2015 at Jaipur, India. ABC is all set to discuss the entire Moringa production from ground zero to scale. All important Topics shall be covered relating to Agronomy, Horticulture, Biology, Engineering, and Marketing and Financial aspects of Moringa commercialization in 2 Day Moringa State of Art International Workshop. It's experience, expertise, and technology about Moringa and its use for agriculture development for the purposes of reducing hunger and poverty shall be highlighted at the 3rd Global Moringa Meet 2015.

Moringa oleifera L (Moringaceae) has been identified as a multipurpose versatile plant with enormous economic, nutritional, health and biofuel potentials. It is the most widely cultivated species of a monogeneric family (Moringaceae,) that is native to the sub-Himalayan tracts of India. This rapidly-growing tree (also known as the horseradish tree, drumstick tree), is said to have been used by the ancient Romans, Greeks and Egyptians for the treatment and prevention of health ailments, cosmetic and beauty purposes.

Experts at Moringa India, ABC are pursuing the unique suitability of all parts of the plant for a wide range of practical purposes ranging from agricultural to medicinal to fuel. The 3rd Global Moringa Meet provides an opportunity for experts from around the world to meet and address this agenda. The experience, expertise, and views of moringa scientists/experts about Moringa and its use for agriculture development for the purposes of reducing hunger and poverty shall be discussed and deliberated as to answer:

  • What are the potential benefits of Moringa?
  • What are the limiting factors to the adoption of Moringa for agricultural development, specifically for nutrition enhancement and poverty reduction.
  • What are appropriate strategies to expand the use of Moringa for agricultural development and fuel production?
  • What should be an ideal situation of Moringa being used to its fullest potential for development.

-What could be negative impacts of furthering the use of Moringa for agricultural development?
Globally, about 870 million people do not have enough to eat, and more than two billion suffer from micro nutrient deficiency, according to United Nations (UN) food agencies. Nutrient-rich Moringa foods could play an important role in efforts to provide healthy diets for people around the world.

Moringa could help ensure food security for people who are currently malnourished - a number that continues to increase despite international efforts, said M Sharma, a scientist at the ABC

2-Day Moringa State Of Art International Workshop shall have following Interactive Sessions on:

  • Moringa Biodiversity to design crops: Potential species, selection methods, Gremplasm, Genomic, Genetic Improvement & Propagation
  • Moringa Production systems: Biology & Physiology, Soil Management, Agronomy, Horticulture- Orchard Design & Management, Harvesting, drying, extraction
  • Moringa Processing: Leave, Powder, oil & Biodiesel
  • Moringa in Aquaculture: Feed, waste water cleaning, ornamental goals
  • Moringa in Agriculture: Plant protection, animal health, soil conditioning
  • Moringa in Food Supplement: Health food additives
  • Moringa in Medical: Health-promoting Properties
  • Moringa in cosmetics: Beauty promoting properties
  • Moringa Biodiesel: Oil technology & Quality, Economy & Marketing

3RD GLOBAL MORINGA MEET 2015 is an international conference dedicated to the latest advancements in the science, technology and advancements in research, commercialization solutions and much more! Our aim in establishing this meet - which has become an annual event - is to encourage and stimulate fresh thinking on this, the greatest challenge of our time. We believe the people of this world are entitled to the best foods our land can provide. The GMM 15 will investigate the most effective ways of achieving this. Though we are passionately committed to good science, the key to securing good food for all is rather the careful management of the world's natural resources by well tried and trusted methods.

We have no agenda other than to secure a system of agriculture that feeds the world well and also fuels same time. The oil from the Moringa tree is a more sustainable biodiesel feed-stock as it can yield both food and fuel. Among those searching for solutions to feed the hungry, Moringa is well known. Malnourished children flourish with the introduction of the nutritious Moringa leaf crop, which provides protein, vitamins and minerals in their diets. The greatest potential for this species is currently thought to be in its cultivation for the production of biodiesel. Yields of about 20 metric tonnes of pods per hectare per year are achievable for this species. This would equate to between 3000 and 4000 liters of biodiesel per hectare per annum. It is particularly desirable because it is a very low water-use crop and may be cultivated on marginal land commercially.

Talking on the forthcoming Global Moringa Meet 2015, the President of ABC, Mr. DP Maharshi said, "To create, build and succeed in the growing world of Moringa one need complete and comprehensive knowledge of Plant Science, Plant Technology and Plant Economics and just registering yourself for the meet, you can ensure the same as this is the only platform to understand & learn, to plan and execute, the best expertise to discuss and analyze the present and future dynamics of Moringa Crop and Business.

"If these are aims that you share please support our Meet. Join with us on this adventure. What we're seeking is nothing less than a renaissance - for farming, for energy for food and for the world.

"On behalf of the organizing committee, we are honored to welcome you to GMM 15 in beautiful downtown Jaipur. It will be a great pleasure to share the up-to-date advances in both fundamental researches and engineering practices and to project the areas where we may contribute to our better life and planet," he further added.

Next, given that the industry is marking milestones with the development and commercialization of Moringa-derived products, particularly in the Europe, South America, Africa and Asia Pacific region where the diverse market is growing immensely, we have lined-up these top experts and their sessions on High Value Added Ingredients from Moringa
